It was good to get our first meet under our belts last week and we saw some good performances for a young team. The Copper Hills Invite was a bust because of weather, but those athletes that went and got a chance to compete, competed hard in poor weather conditions. Great job Sentinels!
We have two meets this week before Spring Break. We will be at Orem Wednesday and Riverton Friday for the Jordan District Championships.
Buses will leave at 12:30 p.m. to Orem and the meet will start at 2:00 p.m.. Athletes will be checked out at 11:50 a.m. and need to hurry and get ready to go. Middle schoolers will be checked out at 11:40 a.m.. Please be early so we can get loaded up and get out since the buses have to drop us off and return to run routes. Make sure to dress warm and have plenty of healthy snack and food, as well as water.
Jordan District Championships- Friday will be by invitation and some of it might be based on practice and how well athlete compete at Orem. Buses will leave 7:50 a.m., so be there 10 minutes early.
Spring Break- Next week we will have practices everyday for those athletes who are around. If you are leaving town talk to your event coaches and find out what workouts you should be doing on your own. DO NOT take the week off!
House Keeping - We have had a lot of athletes missing practices lately for whatever reason. If you ever miss practice you should be in touch with your coach and make sure you know what you missed. Missing practice to make up school work is a very poor excuse! Athletes are expected to stay on top of grades and should not let themselves get into a position where they are missing practices, especially when there is time before school and all day Friday every week for athletes to fix grades. If you miss practice and do not have a good excuse or communicate with your coach you are in danger of being cut from the team. Make it a priority to be there and work hard.
Athletes need to make sure they are eating enough food, trying to healthy, drinking plenty of water throughout the day, and stretching and rolling out consistently after practices.
