March 20-25

We had our first meet at Salt Lake Classic on Saturday.  Our girl's team ended up 2nd place and our boys were 9th, and 2nd place in the combined girls and boys scores.   We saw some good things from many of our athletes and applaud the efforts.  We still have a lot of work to do, but some of you are definitely on the way to doing more good things.  We did see a State Q mark hit, a few new school records set, and some new grade level records set on Saturday.

Special congrats to the following: our sophomore rookie Kinzlee Riddle for breaking both the 400m and 200m school records (1:01:10, and 27:00)!  Also to Adam Wightman for breaking his own Pole Vault school record by over 2 feet (13'9") and for hitting the State Q mark!  Natalie Shober for setting a new 100m record.  Cailey Bracken for winning the 3200m and almost lapping the entire field, and our girl's 4x400 Relay of Kinzlee Riddle, Natalie Shober, Brea Butler, and Lexi Jarvis for winning.

We have a meet at West Jordan on Wednesday vs West Jordan and Herriman at 3:30 p.m.. Athletes are expected to compete in multiple events that day.  Athletes should be present the entire meet, ether competing or cheering on their teammates in different events.  No one should leave early!

Please be prepared with warmups, warmer clothing that is weather appropriate, and water, snacks, sunscreen, or other items you might need.

All athletes should always plan on riding the buses, and athletes are never permitted to drive themselves.  Parents should fill out a driver/rider form in the main office in order to drive athletes for a special circumstance and coaches should be aware of this. Buses will leave at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday.  Eligible athletes will be excused from school early for meets, high school athletes are typically excused 30 minutes prior to buses leaving and 9th graders 45 minutes prior to the leave time.

Also, many athletes are finding excuses to not be at practice and/or leaving early, or putting in poor efforts at practice.  If this is the case fix it!  Otherwise coaches will send you home, and if the staff has to send kids home multiple times or you are absent multiple times, you will be cut.  The coaches will focus on those athletes (varsity and JV) that are putting in solid efforts everyday at practice, and those who aren't, or who have poor attitudes, will not received that help and will likely be cut from the roster.  So come prepared to work.

We might possibly do a Invite at Copper Hills this weekend, weather pending.
