Kaysha Love Bio   Hunter Powell Bio

We are excited to welcome Coach Kaysha Love and Coach Hunter Powell to our Mountain Ridge Track and Field Staff!  Both coaches recently returned from competing in the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Italy.  Both Coach Kaysha and Coach Hunter bring a wealth of experience and expertise to our staff.  Kaysha Love is a 2-time Olympian and 2025 World Champion.  Hunter Powell is also an Olympian, and is former Decathlete, with several years experience in coaching Decathlon events at Colorado State University.  We feel very blessed, and excited, to have the these professional athletes join our staff!  Plus they are amazing people!

We had our first meet at Early Bird Mountain View Invite on Friday and Saturday.  We had good weather and competition, and our team did very well with a lot of good marks and even some PRs, in all our events.  We are excited to get going this season and see our young team progress.

Congrats to the following athletes who hit State Q marks at Early Bird Invite: Shaylee Grant - Discus, Madison Grant - Shot Put, and Tyson Strauss - 110m Hurdles.

We will have a dual meet at Mountain Ridge Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.. All athletes need to be completely eligible, which means RMA is complete and fees are paid, if they haven't been already.  Athletes are expected to compete in multiple events that day.  Athletes should be present the entire meet, either competing or cheering on their teammates in different events.  No one should leave early!  It is supposed to be a warm day, so be prepared.

Eligibility was due February 23rd, so those missing anything as of this week will be cut from the roster.  All edibility and and fees need to be taken care of in order to be on the team and be able to to compete.

We have a SIGN-UP for parents to sign up to help with the events on Wednesday. There will be two 2 hour time slots to choose from for each event.  Coaches can help train parents how to work events if they are inexperienced.  We of course want you to be able to watch your own athlete compete, so we will make that possible. We appreciate all the help we can get, so that we can run a smooth meet.

All athletes will be checked out early so they can dress, help set up their events, and to give them time to warm up once we are set up and ready to go.  We need everyone to help.

Those who need uniforms still, will need to come get them from Coach Barnes before practice and during practice on Monday.  Make sure to have a screen shot of your payment.  No uniforms will be given out after Tuesday!

We have the Mountain Valley Invite on Friday at Spanish Fork High at 2pm.  Buses will leave at 11:45am.  Athletes who will be competing will be checked out  and school excused.  Typically high school athletes are checked out 30 minutes early and 9th graders 45 minutes early.
