Track and Field Athlete/Parent Meeting

For all of those interested in competing for the Track and Field team this spring, there will be an athlete/parent meeting on Monday January 30th at 6:30 p.m. in the High School auditorium. Come meet the coaching staff and find out what you need to do to be a part of the team this spring.

We are currently practicing for indoor track every day after school.  This would be recommended to get in shape for the season, if you are not currently participating in a high school sport you should be out for Indoor.  See the previous posts on Indoor Track and Throws clinic practices for how to get involved.

Thanks to all those who came to the parent meeting.  If you missed it here are some of the items discussed.  Agenda

Spirit Packs - The team store will be available this week for those who did not get team gear before.  Once it closes the items will be ordered.  Plan on about 4 weeks once the store closes to receive your items.

Those of you who are coming out for Track and Field, practices start  February 27th at 3:00 p.m. on the Track.  High schoolers need to make sure they are on time and 9th graders need to get there ASAP.  We will have practice everyday until 5:00 p.m..  Watch the weather to see how you should dress throughout each week.  You are expected to make practice a priority everyday, not being at practices and communicating with the coaches could results in you being cut from the team.  Communicate any and all reasons you might miss a practice with the coaching staff.

Also, be aware that many athletes have been out training for several weeks and even since the new year.  We would invite you to come out to practices that we are doing for Indoor Track and Pre-season ASAP so you can start getting in shape earlier.

Eligibility -  Everyone is expected to have registermyathlete completed before coming out the first Monday for practice, this includes adding your 2nd quarter report card and a current physical.  Once you have finished RMA and we have a roster, fees will be added to skyward you will be allowed to pay your fees of $100 for participation and the $60-$80 for your uniform.  These fees will not be added to skyward to pay online until RMA is completed and the season has started.  You will have until March 3th to complete all eligibility requirements, but please do not wait until the last minute. Make sure to sign up for either Boy's Track or Girl's Track and not Unified. See the links below:

Uniforms - Those who need a uniform will pay a fee of $60-$80 once the season starts.  This can be done in the main office or they can put it on skyward for you.  Again, you must have completed your eligibility in order to receive your uniform.  Coach Barnes will give uniforms out at practice the second week.  We are getting new jerseys this season and everyone will need one ($55-$60).  If your uniform bottoms are still in good condition from last year and still fit properly, then you do not need to purchase another one.  If you need a part of a uniform (jersey) then you should talk to Coach Barnes, but everyone that gets a full uniform will pay about $80Uniforms are for competing only and should not be worn at practices!  Old uniforms may be worn at practice.

Spike Night- Good training shoes, and spikes for racing and competing are very important.  Run Gr8 Running Center in Riverton will do two Spike nights for us March 6th – March 7th ,this will be a good time to buy spikes and/or new trainers at a team discounted price (20%-25% off shoes, spikes and gear).  Parents and family can get the same discounts that night.
